February’s safety topic is Ergonomics. Ergonomics is simply defined as fitting a job to a person. When reducing the risk factors our employees are exposed to, we are able to help lessen muscle fatigue, increase productivity, and reduce the number and severity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
Work related MSDs are among the most frequently reported causes of lost or restricted work time according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Examples of MSDs include:
PPC believes we are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace. Our ergonomic process uses the principles of our safety program to address such hazards and is viewed as an ongoing function that is incorporated into daily operations.
